Wanted! Donors to help us update our equipment!
Over the past 25 years, our petroglyph recorders have documented over 85,000 images on 8000 acres on Mesa Prieta.  Only 12,000 acres to go!  Currently five teams requiring equipment upgrades are working on the mesa.  All this was accomplished using equipment recommended in the 1990s - it is time to update!

We have a new archaeologist leading us into an advanced world

Jerod Roberts joined MPPP late in 2024 as the Project Archaeologist.  Jerod has six years experience working with Shumla Rock Art and Research Education Center.  He strives to bring technology practiced with SHUMLA to MPPP.

It's time we discard our equipment from the
       1990s . . . .
And catch up with the professional archaeological world!

Any donation amount is very much appreciated!
 All donations are tax-deductible.

Please donate towards new GPS units with automatic download capability (born digital) into the office computers.
$2500 each.  We need five GPS units.

Emlid Reach GPS Units
Emlid’s multi-band RTK GPS units, such as the Reach RS2+ and RS3, provide centimeter-level accuracy for geospatial recording.  These units allow archaeologists to precisely map petroglyphs, trails, and landscape features, contributing to detailed spatial analysis and long term site monitoring.

Thank you, MPPP, and friends of Mesa Prieta, for contributing $7500.  We have purchased five new cameras needed as we move our project forward to meet professional and university standards for documentation.
The Canon EOSR8 is a 24.2 megapixel full-frame mirrorless camera used to document petroglyphs and cultural features in high detail.  Its sharp resolution and accurate color rendering make it ideal for capturing subtle carvings and surface textures.  This camera is also used in creating photogrammetry models and 3D visualizations for preservation and research
