Tours for Educational Organizations
In 1999, Katherine Wells, MPPP Founder, recognized that extended preservation of the archaeological treasures on Mesa Prieta and nearby areas would occur primarily through education ̶ of the LOCAL community and eventually across the state.
It is to this end that MPPP invites all educational organizations within New Mexico to sign up for tours of the Wells Petroglyph Preserve, free of charge.
We welcome groups of up to 24 students with one chaperone for every six students. We try when possible to keep groups small by pairing one volunteer docent with one chaperone and six students.
Unless otherwise arranged educational tours begin at 9:30 a.m. and last approximately two hours.
MPPP can provide small grant monies to cover or off-set transportation costs to and from our site. Please leave a comment below within the form submission if you would like more information.
Occasionally tours are rescheduled for unavoidable reasons such as weather, safety, trail conditions, illness or other emergency needs. Should you wish to reschedule or cancelfor other reasons we may have need to charge your school an administrative fee of $50.
No tours are scheduled on the Wells Petroglyph Preserve on the following holidays:
New Years Day, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving and the day following and Christmas.
For questions please call the office at 505- 852-1351.
